Project Summary | In the two-term course, SANS 300 (Introductory Sanskrit), students have access to a course textbook that introduces them to the Sanskrit sound system, the script, and the requisite vocabulary and grammar to develop their reading, writing, and listening skills. Yet, becoming proficient in these skills requires more practice than what is generally provided in the end-of-chapter exercises. While in-class activities offer added opportunities for students to apply the theoretical knowledge gained from the course textbook, there is still a need for more practice questions and exercises. This OER project will address this need by creating a bank of interactive practice questions that would supplement existing course learning materials. To allow for maximum portability, this project will draw upon interactive content from the H5P platform that it can embed in Canvas and open-source systems such as Pressbooks. Providing a robust set of practice assessments across different platforms will benefit students, not only of SANS 300, but also of higher-level Sanskrit courses offered at UBC. |
