Project Summary | Solicited feedback of Pathology: From the tissue level to Clinical Manifestations (Open Patho) revealed a desire for more accessible content that the reader can engage with, regardless of their respective barrier (e.g. visual, time, lack of real life experience, previous knowledge, etc). A surprising comment was made by an instructor that a barrier to her adoption of Open Patho into her course was the instructor’s lack of time and energy to convert Open Patho content into a usable in-class lesson. This project addresses this feedback with the creation of an instructor guide, visual learning aids, test bank, simulation of the clinical environment, and video interviews with patients sharing their lived experience with a pathology and health inequities. This project continues to engage student writers as the authors have observed positive impact on their learning. Hence this project will have student writers to expand the question bank and include two new requested chapters: acid base balance and autoimmune diseases. The authors received an invitation from BC campus for an expert peer review prior to inclusion in their catalogue. In preparation, Open Patho needs to address several accessibility and formatting features that are required by BC campus. |
