Project Summary | The pharmacy curriculum encompasses a diverse array of resources, creating a significant burden for students to discern which ones to utilize, how to use them effectively, and when to employ each resource. This project aims to develop a reference guide organized by module (i.e., body system) and condition that collates and curates high-quality, comprehensive, online, open access resources, consolidating relevant information. Using the open Pressbooks platform, we will use this grant to sample two chapters (two conditions) with the following information for each: title of the resource, what it’s used for, type of resource (guideline, database, tool), concise summary of resource, and a student summary (e.g., when students would use the resource), which will provide a metacognitive overview. In addition, a collection of student-made study guides related to these topics will be made available. This project is the first step of a pilot initiative to develop, promote, and integrate high-quality open educational resources in the pharmacy program. This consolidated collection of resources will guide students directly to relevant, high-quality resources and student-made study guides aligned with course curriculum, address affordability of learning materials by prioritizing relevant open access materials suitable for the curriculum, and enhance awareness of open educational resources. A proof-of-concept approach will be used to determine the success of this project, with the future vision to expand on this Pressbooks resource into all subject areas of the medication management curriculum within the E2P PharmD program. |
