Project SummaryThis student-led initiative will allow students to access resources quickly, increase flexibility in navigation of
resources, and grow awareness of open-educational resources (OER).

The Entry-to-Practice (E2P) PharmD Program at UBC is a four-year professional program designed to provide a comprehensive education in pharmaceutical sciences. Within the E2P program, there are sequential medication management courses (15-18 credits each), each composed of several modules organized by various corresponding body systems (e.g., cardiovascular, respiratory). The pharmacy curriculum encompasses a diverse array of resources, of varying costs, creating a significant burden for students to discern which ones to utilize, how to use them effectively, and when to employ each resource. This project aims to develop a reference guide organized by module (i.e., body system) and condition that collates and curates high-quality, comprehensive, online, open-access resources into a single, accessible repository. This resource will be open for all pharmacy students and beyond.

Utilizing an open platform, this grant will facilitate the creation of the resource with the following information for each condition: title of the resource, what it’s used for, type of resource (e.g., guidelines, tools), summary of resource, and a student summary of the resources, which will provide a metacognitive overview. In addition, a collection of student-made study materials (i.e. 1-page study synopses) and sample questions related to these topics will be made.

As a recipient of an OER Fund Rapid Innovation grant, we piloted a small-scale version of the project, developing two chapters on Pressbooks and receiving positive feedback from students already. This proposal includes several key components that address the valuable feedback learned as part of our initial pilot. Our primary deliverable is to complete the other 15 topics within the three didactic years of the E2P PharmD curriculum by creating a consolidated collection of resources, student-made study materials, and topic-related sample questions.
