Project TitleUpgrading existing educational video lectures for ASIA 353- Introduction to Hindi Film
Principal InvestigatorSunil Kumar Bhatt

Funding Year2024
Project SummaryThe project will upgrade the quality of existing educational videos that are part of the open source knowledge
base. The upgrade includes improvement of the sound quality and incorporation of graphics on to the video. This enhanced open educational material will be the integral part of the ASIA 353, the UBC credited course.

The project aims to upgrade, specifically improve the sound quality and add more graphics, to the already existing video lectures for ASIA 353 – Introduction to Hindi Film. During the early days of COVID-19, when academia had to suddenly grapple with the lockdowns and transition to online classes, I created short introductory video lectures for each topic we took every week. Since everything was closed, I used my personal camera and a commonly used microphone to record these lectures. While the video quality of these lectures is deemed acceptable, but the audio quality is suboptimal. The students and other users have given feedback that they need to raise the full volume of the sound to clearly follow the content of the videos.

In this project I plan to re-record the audio and align them with the already created videos to upgrade the sound quality. There are 11 videos, each ranging from 10-20 minutes in length. that are used for ASIA 353 and require upgrading. Upgrading each video will approximately take 8-10 hours. The project intends to hire two undergraduate students for this task, preferably those who have completed the course and are familiar with the content of the videos.
